Lanxess Arena

The Lanxess Arena is a sports complex that hosts not only sports, but also various concerts. The stadium hosted the world hockey championships in 2001 and 2010.

Lanxess-Arena is the largest multi-purpose sports complex in Cologne, named in 2008 after the chemical company Lanxess, the main sponsor. And the Arena was built in 1998 and was then called Cologne Arena.


The total area occupied by the building is 16, 8 square meters, height - 76 m. The hall for spectators seats up to 20 thousand people. For its appearance, the Arena received the nickname "picnic basket" from local residents. At the Lanxess Arena, along with sports, there are concerts of famous pop singers and various shows.

Lanxess Arena Sports Event

The Gummersbach handball club and the Cologne Heye hockey club consider Lanxess-Arena their home venue. In 2001 and 2010 World Hockey Championships were held here.
