About 37 thousand Lazio children are below the poverty line

The sad data are indicated in the third report of the Social Security and Support Fund of Rome: 37 thousand children (equivalent to 8.69% of the total) living in the Italian region of Lazio are below the poverty line. Moreover, 30 thousand of them are residents of the capital of Italy. Thus, the Lazio region ranked fourth in poverty after Campania, Sicily and Sicilia, and Lombardia.

“To effectively combat child poverty, it is necessary to support and encourage families, as well as do everything possible to create an atmosphere conducive to children. The economic crisis has a significant impact on changing habits and lifestyle. Today, many families save on food and medical care. This is evidenced by the frequent requests of charitable structures. In 2013, the state provided about 8 million medications free of charge, which is 6 million more than in the previous 2012, ”the report says.

The report of the Social Protection Fund also indicated that 93 percent of all low-income children in Rome and the surrounding area live in dysfunctional families. About 41 percent of minors do not feel maternal and paternal love.

One of the authors of the study, Francesca Zuccari, commented on the situation in Rome, explaining: “Of course, Lazio, and in particular some sections of the population, were badly affected by the consequences of the crisis. Such figures can be explained by the fact that many residents of the country suffer from social exclusion. People simply cannot provide help and support to their neighbors. Consider, for example, the problem of older people and families.

The more lonely a person is, the less comfortable he feels.

“On the other hand, often it is the elderly who provide the necessary support to their family members.”

Lorenzo Tagliavanti, vice president of the Roman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, also explained why the capital’s enterprises cannot provide adequate assistance in solving the problem of child poverty, as well as other consequences of the financial crisis: “At the moment, the companies are going through hard times. And there are three reasons for this.

Firstly, they can’t get the loans necessary for doing business. Secondly, the activity of buyers has declined.

There is no government investment. Thus, the middle class is turning the third and poorest. Today, entrepreneurs and excellent specialists who simply cannot find work are at a loss. We are particularly concerned about the problem of employing young people. ”

However, as Lorenzo Tagliavanti assures, despite the seemingly pessimistic and hopeless situation, the authorities also see some improvements in it: “We see an increased flow of foreign enterprises that come to Italy.

We hope that they will become a source of new jobs. The country also has a certain number of talented students who in the future will be able to prove themselves worthily. As for public administration, everything is simple here. It is necessary to support and help new enterprises, as well as develop new and less costly types of services. ”

Unopened Basilicata

Basilicata is one of those regions of Italy where the foot of a Russian-speaking tourist rarely steps. Largely guilty of its geographical location and lack of information. The Basilicata includes two provinces of Matera and Potenza. They are located between the regions of Puglia and Calabria and, as it were, sandwiched between them. The region is located in the very south of Italy near the Gulf of Taranto (Ionian Coast), and its western part is washed by the Tyrrhenian Sea.
